Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of heroes who will branch out from the main group to undertake their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—used the foes for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as important members in House Halovar could help the party access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in search of the antagonist.
